There was a cruel and oppressive rule over Russia, along with widespread social unrest for decades. There was inequality everywhere and the czar was ruling an unfair government. There were many riots and revolts, not just by peasants, but also soldiers eventually as well. The country of Russia had a rich tradition in absolutism, which meant that the czars ruled with unlimited power. This created a lot of hostility among the Russian people. Some major people who played a ey role in the early stages of the Russian revolution would be Alexander lll, and Nicolas ll. There was social revolutions that rose up from the distress and destruction that they were living through, and these groups became known as the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks.
Mensheviks vs. Bolsheviks
In the midst of the beginning of the Russian Revolution, many different ideals and social revolutionaries were created. Two of these groups were the Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks. Even though both of these parties wanted to implement communism in Russia, two very different ways of accomplishing this task were present with these parties. There was a need for a better leadership throughout Russia and new political parties being formed, is the only way to finally reach and establish what the citizens want. One party did come out on top, the Bolsheviks, and this caused Lenin to go straight to power and thus a new era in Russia was born due to the beginning of the reign of Vladimir Lenin.
